Name:

Tommy Thach

University:

California State University, Long Beach

Major:

Kinesiology; Focus in Physical Education

Plans after college:

Going into my credentials program while starting to be a Physical Education teacher in one of my local school districts.

Favorite thing about CKI or favorite memory:

My favorite aspect of Circle K International is being able to serve the community while also learning more about myself in ways that I could further develop later. I initially didn’t know much about event planning and delegation. However, I have a strong knowledge of not only those two aspects but many other skills as well — and that is because of Circle K International!

Hello everyone,

My name is Tommy Thach and I am a fifth-year student at California State University, Long Beach, in the California-Nevada-Hawaii District. I come from an immigrant family, and even though we have gone through hardships, we are still thriving and trying our best to make positive and meaningful changes to our local communities. My mother has always taught me that in order to make a change in the world, you must be willing to make that change impactful in order to leave a mark of your own. I decided to make my mark in the world by helping people around me. I have been doing community service ever since middle school, initially helping schools around me. This was the start to my passion: wanting to be a teacher for physical education and spread the importance of all types of health, ranging from mental health to spiritual health.

I have been able to teach local children the importance of staying healthy by educating them through physical activities. Even after the quarantine started, this didn’t stop my program from wanting to make a difference. We implemented fitness through zoom and my portion correlated with a lot of Zumba. We would call this: Zoomba! I was able to combine my passion for health education and my hobby of dancing to help students have fun even in a virtual setting.

Other than wanting to be a physical education teacher, I also want to make a difference in my community by increasing awareness about physical health. Over the past two years, I was able to lose over 60 pounds through training. This experience has made me more intrigued about the human body, so I’ve been doing research regarding supplements ranging from protein powder and creatine to Beta-hydroxy beta-methylbutyrate (HMB). I absolutely love getting to know information like this and contributing to research to educate those around me.

If you would like to talk me about education or personal health, don’t be afraid to reach out — I love these types of conversations! Please be safe and practice social distancing.
