Top District Goals: 1) To obtain a minimum of a 5% increase in membership by March 31, 2009 over the April 1, 2008 membership numbers. 2) To obtain an average of 30 CKI service hours per member from April 1, 2008 to March 31, 2009. 3) To build a playground in the Capital District by March 31, 2009 as part of a campaign to promote the 2008-09 District Project “Shaping Up” a focus on Health & Physical Fitness Awareness.

Upcoming District Events: Fall Training Rally will be held at the end of September this year. It is an event to train CKI members, in general, about the organization and their duties as members. It is also a social event to meet all the other Crabs in CAPITAL! The Capital District Convention is typically held on the 2nd or 3rd weekend of February. Spring Officer Training Conference is held in March to train all incoming officers. Total K Day, a district-wide event with all branches of the Kiwanis-Family, and our District Large Scale Service Project, a district-wide event devoted to service, vary in terms of schedule but are usually held in the Spring.

Carolinas

District Service Project: The Boys and Girls Homes of North Carolina at Lake Waccamaw, NC. This is also the district service project for the Carolinas District of Kiwanis and Key Club.

Top District Goals: 1) Increase Membership to 280 members and 14 Active Clubs. 2) Increase Communication, by having an updated Web site by August, four District Newsletters and at least two Area Newsletters, and open board meetings for all members. 3) 25% Increase or at least 20 Members in Attendance at all three District Events, in this we hope that we will have representation from all active clubs in our district at all events. 4) Develop Future Leadership, this will include providing area club officer training workshops in April, May, and August, spreading the word about district offices and communicating the numerous opportunities through newsletters and Web site. 5) A Renewed Excitement for Nebraska-Iowa Circle K.
District Service Project: The District Service Project is in the works, but one that we are leaning towards is Soles 4 Souls this is a non-profit organization that provides shoes to people in other countries that are in need of shoes and people that need shoes in times of desperation or devastation i.e., Hurricane Katrina.

Upcoming District Events: Summer Sunshine – This is an event that will be held 20th, 21st, 22nd, 2008 at Mahoney State Park in Nebraska. We don’t know all the exact details yet, but we make time for service which in previous years has been picking up golf balls on the driving range or painting park benches and for some fun which includes miniature golf, pony rides, or paddle boats. Falliday Social – This event will take place in October or November and it will serve as our Leadership Training event and also a social for all of the clubs and areas to get to know each other. This is a combined district event this year, compared to what we had last year which was two different events Fall Festival and Holiday Social.
District Convention: February 28th, 29th, and March 1st or March 6th-8th Location: TBA Theme: Change the Past, Preserve the Future!


New England

Top District Goals: 1) The amount of money fundraised for district projects [combined]: $8,500.
2) The number of community service hours for the district: 15,600. 3) The number of Circle K members at InterNECK: 80. 4) The number of Circle K members at District Convention: 100. 5) The number of total members of the district: 420. 6) The number of new clubs chartered: 4.

New Jersey

Top District Goals: 1) Membership Goal of 309 by March 31, 2009. 2) Service Hour Goal of 8,675 by March 31, 2009. 3) Projects for the year: Habitat for Humanity – building as many houses as we can and try to build one in Gina’s name; Governor’s Project – Martha’s Fund – as many walks as we can set up; Locks for Love – one member per club will donate their hair at DCON; Natural Disasters – donating goods and collecting at district events, and Six Cents. 4) Fundraising Efforts: Children’s Specialized Hospital - $1,500, Gina’s Scholarship - $1,050, Brian C. Kull Foundation - $1,005, Duistonia - $1,000 and Tomorrow Fund - $1,000 for a total of $5,555 for the year. 5) To be strong, united, together, and successful during this year!

District Service Project: Summer: Karing for Kampers (focusing on the NY Kamp for Kiwanis and other camps). Fall: Makinng a M.A.R.K on the Future (M.A.R.K = Making arts a reality for kids). Winter: Hope for the Holidays (focusing on children’s hospitals). Spring: High Five for Health (focusing on children’s health and fitness).

Top District Goals: 1) Record 16,000 service hours with 10% of the hours towards the District Project. 2) Have 25 clubs and 600 members by the end of the year. 3) Charter or rebuild at least three clubs. 4) Record 325 Interclubs with 85 of them being with other Sponsored Leadership Programs aside from CKI. 5) Reach attendance of 25 at International Convention, 80 at Fall Conference and 100 at District Convention.
